While all San Mateo County voters will receive a ballot in the mail, some voters may wish to vote in person or require in-person assistance. Learn more about the options available to you when you visit a Vote Center.

Operated by the San Mateo County Elections Office, Vote Centers are physical locations throughout the County where voters can register to vote or update their registration, drop off a voted ballot, obtain a replacement ballot, or cast their vote using an accessible voting machine. Redwood City voters can visit any Vote Center in San Mateo County for assistance.

What to Expect at a Vote Center

When you arrive at a Vote Center, you will first notice plenty of signage directing you to the voting location. Election’s staff will greet you and ask what type of assistance you need, will direct you through the process, and provide assistance every step of the way. Assistance is available in several languages including English, Chinese, and Spanish.

If you will vote in person, you have the option to mark a paper ballot or use a Ballot Marking Tablet, which will print a paper ballot upon completion. Once you’ve finished marking your ballot, simply deposit your voted ballot into a ballot box within the Vote Center and you’re done! Don’t forget to take your “I Voted” sticker. For more information about marking a ballot in person at a Vote Center, go here.

Contactless ballot drop-off is also available at each Vote Center. Once you arrive at the Vote Center, simply drop off your voted ballot at one of the clearly marked Ballot Drop Boxes. Don’t forget to sign and seal the return envelope before dropping it into the Ballot Drop Box.

The County implemented additional COVID-19 safety precautions at each Vote Center location. Be sure to wear your mask and adhere to social distancing requirements. Masks will be offered to voters who arrive without one. Vote Center equipment is sanitized after every use and voters will have the option to use disposable finger protectors if using a Ballot Marking Tablet. All precautions are in place to ensure each voter can exercise their right to vote in a safe environment.
